The school is intended to provide graduate and undergraduate students, theoretical background and complementary practical demonstrations in the use of different detector technologies and data acquisition systems used in Particle Physics, including applications to research in Medicine and Engineering. This school will be held in person and will run for three days, with lectures in the morning and interactive laboratory demonstrations in the afternoon. There will be a daily session for short presentations, either in English or Spanish (10 to 15 minutes) of selected contributions. Application for admission is free of charge. Most of the lectures will be delivered in Spanish (slides in English) with some few exceptions.

Goals of the VI UNIANDES PARTICLE DETECTOR SCHOOL

  • To introduce Colombian students to the area of radiation detectors and their applications.
  • To stimulate the development of experimental particle physics in Colombia.
  • To promote multidisciplinary applications of particle detectors.
  • To motivate students to work in particle detector research.
