Descripción
Urban mobility is a critical variable in urban planning. Understanding mobility patterns support decision-making processes at the city level. This talk shows how representing the movement flows of people in the city through networks and using concepts and tools derived from statistical physics and complex networks allow us to identify interesting patterns. Some results regarding differences and diversity in the mobility patterns according to socioeconomic status or gender of the traveler are presented. Finally, some applications of the different mobility patterns in disease spread dynamics are discussed.
